Feeding preference of Helicoverpa armigera larvae (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) on vegetative and reproductive organs of soybean plants

چکیده

Helicoverpa armigera is a pest insect with large dispersal range, high degree of polyphagy in the larval stage, and difficult control. The pest's ability to survive due availability food persist grain production systems present several Brazilian regions allows it infest wide range crops, including soybeans invasive plants during off-season. There general knowledge that larva prefers feed on plant reproductive organs, but unknown if this true for soybeans, crop which adapting following its recent recognition as pest. Basic herbivore feeding behavior necessary support control within integrated management philosophy. purpose study was examine preference H. larvae their first, fourth, sixth instars vegetative organs soybean plants. It concluded larvae, regardless instar, all available they have preferences based current developmental stage.

Comparative Feeding Performance and Digestive Physiology of Helicoverpa armigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Larvae-Fed 11 Corn Hybrids

This study aimed to evaluate the feeding responses and digestive proteolytic and amylolytic activity of Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) on 11 corn (Zea mays L.) hybrids at 25 ± 1°C, 65 ± 5% relative humidity (RH), and a photoperiod of 16:8 (L:D) h. The fourth- and fifth-instar larvae fed on hybrid K47*K19 had the highest weight of food consumption and those reared on hybrid KSC705 had the lowest ...

Transmission of wild-type and recombinant HaSNPV among larvae of Helicoverpa armigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) on cotton.

Horizontal transmission of insect viruses is a key factor in their cycling in agro-ecosystems. Here we study the transmission of the baculovirus HaSNPV among larvae of Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) in cotton. Transmission of three HaSNPV genotypes was studied from larvae infected with a single virus genotype and from larvae infected with two different genotypes. Genotypes included a wild-type v...

comparative reproductive performance of helicoverpa armigera (hübner) (lepidoptera: noctuidae) reared on thirteen soybean varieties

reproduction parameters for helicoverpa armigera (hübner) were determined and compared on 13 soybean varieties (dpx, l17, bp, clark, jk, 356, m4, m7, m9, gorgan3, sahar, zane and williams) at 25±1ºc, 65±5% rh over a photoperiod of 16:8 (l:d) hours. reproduction parameters were estimated for individual newly emerged moths, which had spent their immature stages on different soybean varieties. the...

Experience-based mediation of feeding and oviposition behaviors in the cotton bollworm: Helicoverpa armigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

Experience is well known to affect sensory-guided behaviors in many herbivorous insects. Here, we investigated the effects of natural feeding experiences of Helicoverpa armigera larvae on subsequent preferences of larval approaching and feeding, as well as the effect of host-contacting experiences of mated females on subsequent ovipositional preference. The results show that the extent of exper...
